![]() ![]() A manager told me they have to sell out of the old stuff first. I have yet to see the newer, deeper version of the 44" HF box in stores. I hadn't thought of examining a lot of the details discussed here, but as I've been to several HF, HD, and Lowes stores this past week, I thought I would add my 2 cents: I searched around online, and the consensus seems to be the 44" HF box, so I think I will go that route and get the top portion at a later date. I asked a friend of mine, his advice was to buy the 44" HF box. Up until now I've had no space to keep one, and despite a modest collection, its a disorganized mess. Hi everyone, I signed up because of this great discussion thread. Everything else I've looked at is either wobbly tin foil on wheels or astronomically priced tool truck porn. The beloved Harbor Freight roller cabinets and the Masterforce line from Menards are the only two that stand out as having a reasonable balance between cost and quality. I haven't purchased anything yet, but I'm surprised at the lack of mid-level options out there. Originally, I was all set to buy a Craftsman online, but I'm glad that I decided to drive the 30 minutes to the nearest Sears to check them out in person first. So for the past few weeks I have been shopping larger toolboxes, and I can confirm that even 6 years later, the findings in the original post seem to be accurate. (For the record, other than the lack of space, it has been great!) I had always expected to replace it within a few years, either due to breakage or simply due to needing more space, but I never expected to outgrow the thing in under 2 years. I know this thread is several years old now, but I'm in the market for a new box and basically just joined to say that this information has been quite helpful to me.Ībout 18 months ago I purchased an older version of the HF 5 drawer mechanic's cart for use at work. ![]()
